Sarah Larson, Single Again!!!

Ever notice that when celebs split, the men always end up on top.

Take George Clooney and Sarah Larson. They call it quits, and the tabloids are cheering--Good news ladies (and some gents)! George Clooney has broken up with that slutty former cocktail waitress from Vegas!"

Meanwhile, the newly single Jessica Simpson practically forces ex-Tony Romo to her sister's wedding, apparently to save face. (Because going solo would be waaay too humiliating.) Jess's divorce and subsequent dating disasters have even led people to compare her to breakup queen Jennifer Anniston. You know, the former Mrs. Brad Pitt. The same Brad Pitt who happens to be happily awaiting the birth of his twins with sex symbol, Oscar winner, and UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie.

Are all guys really that happy after ending a relationship? Not according to a Statistics Canada study. It found that men are more likely than women to become depressed after a marriage or common-law relationship ends.

Somewhere Clooney is crying his eyes out.

TX to counter polygamist ruling

Texas is headed to the state's Supreme Court. It will argue against yesterday's Court of Appeals' ruling that it had no right to take FLDS children away from their parents. (Child Protective Services believes underage girls are being instructed to have sex with and marry much older men.)

I wonder which is worse for the kids: being ripped away from everything you know? Or living the only way you know, with perverse cultural practices and an even more perverse fashion sense? (Jordans with a tangerine prairie dress? Yikes.)

Not Obama not so bad

Unlike GOP leaders of the recent past who have denounced same-sex marriage and support a constitutional ban on such unions, John McCain has shown some civility discussing the topic.
He even sat down with Ellen. And may walk her down the aisle when she weds Portia de Rossi. As if!

Launch Party: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships

Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships

by Tristan Taormino

Launch party at Good Vibrations

on June 5 at 6:30pm

It’s no secret that traditional monogamous marriage in America is in serious trouble and has been for quite a while. Marriage rates have declined, divorce rates have increased, and infidelity is epidemic. The number of articles, books, talk show episodes, and therapy sessions devoted to “bringing back the spark” in a couple’s relationship is staggering. While some resort to cheating, serial monogamy, or “starter marriages,” a growing number of people have opted to create satisfying, lasting partnerships another way—by opening up their relationships. Unlike monogamy, there are no scripts or models for these alternative relationships, so people in them can struggle without guidance, advice, or role models.

Now, in Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships, relationship expert and bestselling author Tristan Taormino gives readers practical advice on how to craft responsible, fulfilling nonmonogamous relationships. In addition, the book offers an unprecedented look at the lives of real people in open relationships and their secrets for success.

Refreshing, accessible, and jam-packed with information, Opening Up dispels myths, explores the real-life benefits and challenges, and helps readers decide if an open relationship is right for them. For those already exploring nonmonogamy, Opening Up offers strategies for making an open relationship work, including tips on communication, negotiation, jealousy, boundary setting, and conflict resolution. With her trademark down-to-earth, sex-positive style and sharp wit, Taormino covers different styles of open relationships from partnered nonmonogamy to solo polyamory as well as topics like coming out, finding community, and parenting.

Join Tristan for the launch of her book and new DVD, Chemistry 4: The Orgy Edition, at Good Vibrations on Valencia St. on Thursday, June 5 at 6:30pm. Tristan will be joined by special guests and stars of Chemistry 4 -- Penny Flame, Adrianna Nicole, and Sinnamon Love. Enjoy a live DJ, wine, hors d’oevres, and a chance to win an incredible door prize of Good Vibrations goodies including the new book and video.

TRISTAN TAORMINO is a bestselling author, columnist, filmmaker, and sex and relationship expert. Her popular Village Voice column “Pucker Up” is nationally syndicated, and she is the author of The Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women, Down and Dirty Sex Secrets, and True Lust. She is also an award-winning adult film director and creator of Vivid Entertainment’s sex education video line, Vivid-Ed. She lectures at top colleges and universities, co-produces sexuality retreats on the East Coast, and teaches sex and relationship workshops around the world. She lives in Upstate New York and on the web at PuckerUp.com and OpeningUp.net.
