In a study of 1,500 couples (probably heterosexual) the median length of intercourse was 7.3 minutes (I knew that porn movies were all lies!).
Optimal time for sex, according to women, was 3-13 minutes. But beware - foreplay and postcoital are not included in this timeframe, so don't just jump in and jump out.
